FAQs (2019)

When is the Conference?

The conference will be held Thursday, November 7th, 2019, to Saturday, November 9th, 2019.

Who Should Attend?

The conference is primarily geared towards legal practitioners, researchers, policy developers, students and civil society actors looking to contribute to the conversation around food law and policy in Canada.

That being said, we can’t emphasize enough how valuable the voices of all stakeholders will be in having a well-rounded discussion in this area. If you fit any of these categories, definitely consider joining:

  • You are a food producer or manufacturer who sees inefficiencies in the regulations that impact your day-to-day and bottom line

  • You work in farming, fishing, food processing or transport, the restaurant industry, or any other area that gives you a unique perspective on food law and policy development and an idea for how Canada can improve

  • You work with a not-for-profit focused on food security, sustainable food production, animal rights, food waste in Canada etc. or a consumer passionate about how your purchasing impacts the food system

Both! Participants are encouraged to present in French or English as they prefer.

While the website is not available as of yet in French, all efforts will be made to ensure a French website is up and running soon!

Will the Conference be in English or French?

Is the Conference Accredited by Law Societies?

The Law Society of Ontario no longer requires organizations to seek accreditation of Continuing Professional Development courses that only have a Substantive component. The CAFLP will not be offering any Professionalism Hours at this year’s conference. Attendees are free to apply any hour spent at a From Microbes to Multinationals keynote or panel towards their required Substantive Hours in Ontario.

We will post information on accreditation for other provinces shortly.
